Introduction: The Akan believe there are 3 types of souls. The “kra” is said to be the life force or the portion of the soul originally created by G_d or “Nyame”. The “ntoro” is the portion of the soul that comes from the father and exhibits its self as a inherited characteristics. The Sunsum however is more of an ego or individual personality that distinguishes one man from another.

Description: The Soul is a cast medal replica of the Sunsum Adinkra symbol. This particular symbol signifies purity, cleanliness and spirituality. Sunsum is an Akan believe that man is both a biological and spiritual entity. They believe that man is created from the mother’s blood or “mogya” and the father’s spirit or “ntoro”.
