Devil’s Advocate
Is your imagination more powerful than really? This is the focus of Anselms’ Ontological argument in chapter five. Anlselm came up with a way to formalize his argument that would be easier for the reader to digest. Supposedly. The argument consists of six, very carefully
crafted points. Trying to make sense of the argument is like trying to fathom the infinite. Anselm contemporary. Gaunilo used the same argument to proof that any unreal thing exists. Calling the Ontological argument redutio ad absurdum. Which in fact meant he could use Anselms’ argument against him.
I decided to use The Advocate to demonstrate redutio ad adsurdum. At the climax of the movie one of the stars, Keanu Reeves, puts an end to his live after finding out that his father was the devil. Using Anselms’ argument, the same proof used to deduce there being the devil [the most supreme negative possible being] resulting in Keanu not going along with his fathers plan helplessly. Redutio ad absurdum.
